Nagpur: A youth attempted to kill a 19-year-old student by attacking her with a knife on a moving bus in a case of one-sided love. The incident occurred on the Savargaon-Katol road within Narkhed police station limits. Police have registered a case of attempted murder and launched a search for attacker Nitin Tagde, resident of Junona Fuke.
Police said Madhura (name changed) studies in the first year of science stream in Katol and commutes by private bus. Since October 2023, Nitin also started travelling by the same bus and developed one-sided love for Madhura. On Thursday at around 7.45am, Nitin boarded the bus from Savargaon and threatened Madhura. Then Nitin took out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Madhura. A passenger snatched the knife from Nitin, who jumped out of the bus and fled.
Passengers admitted her to the hospital in Savargaon. Recording Madhura's statement, police registered a case under various sections including attempted murder. When police went to Nitin's house, he was not at home and his mobile was switched off. His parents and brother live in Nagpur.
